Blue Sky Journeys · First Access
We often think we need to travel overseas to be immersed in history, but few journeys tell the story of America quite like the Lower Mississippi. Sail from Memphis to New Orleans aboard the Viking Mississippi, departing April 27, 2027, with exclusive pricing secured for Blue Sky Journeys travelers, stackable on top of Viking's September promotion.
First Access members receive the exclusive group rate and private booking window in September, before public release.
The Voyage
Our voyage begins in Memphis, the birthplace of rock and roll, and follows the Lower Mississippi south to New Orleans. Along the way we sail through communities that preserve both the beauty and the complicated history of the American South. In Memphis, that story opens on Beale Street, at Sun Studio, and around some of the country's most celebrated barbecue.
We follow the musical heritage of the Delta into Greenville, spend one of the most meaningful days of the trip in Vicksburg at the national military park, and explore Natchez, the oldest city on the Mississippi, where more than 200 historic homes still stand. In St. Francisville and Darrow, we visit the great estates lining the river. The voyage closes in New Orleans, where French, Spanish, African, Caribbean, and American influences have shaped the city's architecture, music, food, and traditions.
